Pluggable JSR-170 Repository

Magnolia has been the first Open-Source application which utilizes the Java Content Repository API specified in JSR-170, and its still one of the few that uses JSR-170 as a basis, not as an add-on, of its system architecture.

This has profound implications. For instance, Magnolia is repository-agnostic. That means Magnolia can use any JSR-170 compliant repository (e.g. Apache Jackrabbit or CRX). This makes it easy to start with the default repository and switch at any time to a more sophisticated implementation, should your needs demand it. It also means that your content is not locked into our repository. It is a degree of freedom - and peace-of-mind - that only Magnolia offers today.
